Analysis of Adaptive Random Early Detection (ARED)

چکیده
Abstract— Recently TCP/RED networks are shown to exhibit a rich set of nonlinear behaviors, leading to instabilities. In order to address some of these issues Floyd et al. have proposed an adaptive version of RED, named ARED. In this paper we analytically demonstrate that ARED has some desirable properties compared to RED. First, we show that the stability of the ARED does not depend on the network load. Second, ARED tends to be less sensitive to the feedback delay. Further, we prove that the selection of the target queue size presents a trade-off between stability and smaller queueing delay.

Evaluation of ARED, CoDel and PIE
In this paper we compare the three Active Queue Managements (AQMs) Adaptive Random Early Detection (ARED), Controlled Delay (CoDel) and Proportional Integral controller Enhanced (PIE) in static as well as dynamic scenarios. We find significant issues when these algorithms are used for big Round Trip Times (RTTs) as well as a significant utilization decrease when used for high bandwidth links. W...
متن کاملAn Improved ARED Algorithm for Congestion Control of Network Transmission
In order to achieve high throughput and low average delay in computer network, it is necessary to stabilize the queue length and avoid oscillation or chaos phenomenon. In this paper, based on Adaptive Random Early Detection ARED , an improved algorithm is proposed, which dynamically changes the range of maximum drop probability pmax according to different network scenarios and adjusts pmax to l...
متن کاملComplementing Current Active Queue Management Schemes with Receiver- Window Modification (RWM)
Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) and Active Queue Management Schemes such as Random Early Detection (RED), Adaptive Random Early Detection (ARED) and BLUE queues have been proposed for TCP/IP networks to compensate network congestion. However, using ECN requires that ECN be supported by both TCP senders and receivers. This paper presents a novel AQM modification called Receiver-Window Mod...
متن کاملGA-PSO-Optimized Neural-Based Control Scheme for Adaptive Congestion Control to Improve Performance in Multimedia Applications
Active queue control aims to improve the overall communication network throughput, while providing lower delay and small packet loss rate. The basic idea is to actively trigger packet dropping (or marking provided by explicit congestion notification (ECN)) before buffer overflow. In this paper, two artificial neural networks (ANN)-based control schemes are proposed for adaptive queue control in...
متن کاملA Neuro-Fuzzy Control for TCP Network Congestion
We use Active Queue Management (AQM) strategy for congestion avoidance in Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) networks to regulate queue size close to a reference level. In this paper we present two efficient and new AQM systems as a queue controller. These methods are designed using Improved Neural Network (INN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS). Our aim is low queue variation...
